If you ever get a job working for campus, they require you to have a social security card. If you don't have one with you, then you don't get paid. They do however accept a receipt from the Social Security office stating that you ordered a new one and it's on its way to you. All you need to get a new social security card is a valid driver's license.
A Google search will put the SSO at two places in Rolla, the one on Kingshighway is obsolete. The one on 10th street is very obscured by trees.
